Rasoi Privacy Policy

Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to create and identify your account.

Family and recipe data: Family names, recipe text, ingredient lists, cooking steps, family stories, and any tags or categories you assign.

Audio recordings: Voice recordings you make when capturing recipes. These are stored on your device and sent to our backend for transcription.

Photos: Recipe photos you take or select from your gallery. These are stored on your device.

Preferences: Diet preference (vegetarian/non-vegetarian), primary language, and notification settings.

Public feed interactions: If you share recipes publicly, we store likes, shares, reports, and blocked-contributor lists associated with your account.

Recipe transcription: Audio recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper service for speech-to-text transcription. OpenAI processes the audio to return text and does not retain it for training purposes.

Recipe structuring: Recipe text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to structure spoken or typed recipes into organised ingredients, steps, and metadata. Anthropic processes this text on demand and does not use it for model training.

Dish images: When a recipe has no photo, we search Pexels (a stock photo service) for a relevant dish image. Only the dish name is sent to Pexels as a search query.

Storage and sync: Your account data, family data, and recipe data are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) in the us-central1 region. This allows your recipes to sync across your devices.

Public feed: If you choose to share a recipe publicly, a copy of the recipe metadata is placed in a public collection visible to other signed-in Rasoi users.

We do not sell your data to any third party. Data is shared with the services above solely to provide app functionality.

• Keep recipes private: All recipes are private to your family by default. You choose whether to share them publicly.
• Remove public sharing: You can un-publish a recipe at any time from the recipe detail screen.
• Block contributors: You can block other users on the public feed so their recipes no longer appear for you.
• Sign out: You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen.
• Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Delete Account. This removes your user profile, family data, public activity, moderation reports, and Firebase authentication record. This action is irreversible.
